Paper Turns will be selling greeting cards at the upcoming Artisans' Market at SickKids Hospital in Toronto on Friday, May 8th, 9:30am-2:00pm. The Artisans' Market is in the Atrium/Garden Terrace of the Hospital at 170 Elizabeth Street (you can get there using the entrance at 555 University Avenue as well).
At my table you will find both my most beloved card ranges (e.g. plenty of signature crane cards in all colours, cherry blossom cards, dragonfly cards...) and my new cards for Mother's Day, for children, for sick people, for summery occasions and more. You can also order cards, or discuss your stationery needs and ideas with me. I can customise cards on site as well!
If you've missed the "Etsy Made in Canada" show or the "One of a Kind" show, this is your opportunity to meet some fabulous local crafters. No admission fee!
I look forward to seeing you there!

Happy Easter!

Easter cards |
Why not make a beautifully crafted card in spring colours part of your Easter presents or decorations? The signature ornament on all 2015 Easter cards is a handmade origami bunny made from colourful foil. The Easter cards come in two sizes.
Art. Nos.: 14OR-A6-MIN15031 (left) and 14OR-A6-MIN15032 (right) |
(1) The A6 cards are made from light green linen card stock and feature mixed green & gold chiyogami, accentuated by beige card stock. An origami bunny in purple or gold foil is placed just off centre, and a satin bow in a matching colour is placed below. Cards can be custom-made with bunnies and ribbons in other colours as well. Options include pink, blue, orange and bright green foil. The card comes with a white envelope.
(2) The A2 series comes in two card-stock colours: red (with a red envelope) and mint green (with a white envelope). Each card features colourful rabbit-patterned chiyogami, matching white tissue, and origami bunnies in red (on the mint green card) or silver (on the red card).

Spring is on its way...
It's getting warmer, and my crafting desk is seeing rays of sunshine after 5 p.m. again. To me, as a part-time paper artist, whose creation processes often take place in the evening, this makes all the difference. More daylight means more opportunities to find the best and most exciting colour combinations. I certainly didn't need to see the internet try to figure out whether a dress was white and gold or blue and black in order to know how light affects the way we see colours. On my crafting desk, where I regularly work with the nuances of colours at different times of day, and through all the seasons, I see the effect of light at work all the time. Right now, I am working on the spring collection, and will be releasing new cards with flowers, butterflies, Easter bunnies etc. soon. Stay tuned!

The first craft sale for Paper Turns
For the first time ever since its launch in September, Paper Turns ventured into the public forum, introducing the brand to a whole new range of people. It wasn't a huge event; just a small holiday pop-up market in the College/Dovercourt area in Toronto. Nonetheless, it was a big moment for Paper Turns, so I put on a big display, and added some seasonal sparkles as well. See for yourselves. Paper Turns even received a shout-out on the Facebook page of the event location, Smiling Buddha.
On display were the regular greeting cards for all occasions, including a big selection of blank cards, brand new business cards, and flyers to remind everyone to vote for my Christmas and Hanukkah cards in the Paper Place holiday contest...
...then there were some of the new "Four Seasons" card sets that attracted everyone's attention, some other card sets, and lots of stocking-shaped gift tags...
...and finally, the entire Holiday collection in all its glory.
And this is me--proud creator of Paper Turns--at my first stall.

All I want for Christmas...
You know what would be a really, really awesome Christmas
present for the Paper Turns card-crafting venture? Winning $300 worth of card-making supplies from my main paper supplier. And guess what, you can help me! The Paper Place, my main supplier of card stocks, envelopes, chiyogami and many other decorative papers, is currently doing a photo contest that asks their customers to show what they have crafted using their stock. Paper Turns entered with two pictures showing cards from the 2014 Holiday Collection. Now it's your turn to vote for your favourites. Would you mind doing Paper Turns a huge favour by voting for my creations?
Here is how you do it:
- Go to the Facebook page of The Paper Place (that’s my main paper supply store), and click on the “Win $300 gift certificate!” tab. This is the direct link.
- Click on the button “Vote” at the top.
- "Like" The Paper Place if you're not a fan already. (If you like my cards you will definitely like their store.)
- Find
the two entries from the Paper Turns holiday collection (the number of votes will hopefully have risen from 8 and 5 by the time you vote):
Paper Turns entries in the #paperplaceholidays contest - Click vote on each of these two photos.
- Done! (Or you could ask your friends to do the same...)
Thank you so much for your votes! The more votes my cards will get, the
greater my chances of winning the gift card. And imagine how many awesome cards I
will be able to make with all those supplies… I will keep you posted on how this turns out.
